We, women, men, grandparents, grandmothers, boys and girls of the Emiliano Zapata Popular and Indigenous Council of Guerrero (CIPOG-EZ), belonging to the Na savi, Me pháá, Ñamnkue, Nahua, Afro-Mexican and Mestizo peoples of the state of Guerrero, are once again raising our voices in anger and pain because on the afternoon of January 24, 2021, the Nahua community of Tula Guerrero was attacked again.
Once again, the narco-paramilitary group “Los Ardillos1” (The Squirrels) shot at civilians.
Fortunately there are no victims of this new shooting, nevertheless this is the continuity of the terror that this criminal group imposes on our Nahua communities.
This attack follows those carried out on June 23, July 20, November 26 and December 27 of 2019. Then on January 1, February 10, February 12 and July 11 & 12 of 2020. Now, this new attack on January 24, 2021.
We hold the three levels of government responsible for giving impunity to the criminal groups that attack us. They do the same with our Zapatista brothers and sisters in Chiapas where, as we know, since last January 18, the paramilitaries have also been shooting them.
In Chiapas, as in Guerrero, the local, state and federal governments continue to stay silent. In Guerrero the excuse is that the PRI holds the State government. In Chiapas MORENA rules the state, and the situation is the same. Bad governing entities throw the ball to each other (avoid responsibility) and nobody does anything. Justice does not arrive and they continue to attack us with impunity.
We have no choice but to continue our resistance and our organization, demanding justice, democracy and peace for our peoples in Guerrero and for our Zapatista brothers and sisters. We also ask the kind-hearted men and women in Mexico and the world not to leave us alone, because this war against the peoples is going to get worse. Now everything the current government does is justified and it takes advantage to continue our extermination.
ATTENTIVELY:

1Los Ardillos is a criminal group identified by state and federal authorities as the main originator of violence in the mountains of Guerrero. It has grown stronger in the last 20 years and leads the drug trade in much of the state. The constant attacks on the communities is because the cartel uses their territories as a route for the transfer of drugs, weapons and people, and as a place to plant poppies.
