For Life and against Money. The CNI-CIG and the EZLN Call for Solidarity with the Peoples’ Front in Defense of the Land and Water of Morelos, Puebla, and Tlaxcala

To the Sixth National and International

To the Media

The National Indigenous Congress-Indigenous Governing Council, and the EZLN denounce the cowardly eviction by the National Guard of the compañeros from the resistance camp in San Pedro Apatlaco, Morelos. The action took place during the early morning of November 23, in order to resume the illegal construction of a pipeline that will transport water from the Cuautla River to the Huexca thermoelectric plant.

How cynically the neoliberal government that claims to rule this country obeys its big capital bosses. How cynically do the armed forces, under the bosses’ orders, violate the peoples’ rights, stealing the water of the Cuautla River from the Ayala peasants in order to deliver it to the companies that profit from the Morelos Integral Project (PIM for its acronym in Spanish). The companies include Elecnor and Enagas, that received concessions for the gas pipeline from the Mexican government; Bonatti and Abengoa, builders of the pipeline and the Huexca thermoelectric power plant; and companies that will profit from subsequent gas consumption, such as Saint Gobain, Nissan, Burlington, Continental, and Gas Natural del Noreste.

In support of the Morelos Integral Project, the neoliberal government and the armed forces conduct military overflights to repress the defenders of the original peoples’ territory, and to impose the energy infrastructure that depends on their destruction and dispossession. At the cost of the blood of our people, like our compañero Samir Flores Soberanes, the exploitation of nature proceeds, so that they, the bosses of transnational capital, can destroy the hills with their mining concessions and keep the water for the industrial corridors of Cuautla, Yecapixtla, Cuernavaca, and the entire region of the states of Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala.

With what cynicism and impunity does the boss, who claims to command from the federal government, undermines the supposed rule of law, by ordering the violation of 8 suspensions of the aqueduct project that have been ordered by judges. The project is designed to steal the water so it can be contaminated by the Huexca thermoelectric power plant. Two more suspensions are also being violated: one halting the gas pipeline on the slopes of the sacred Popocatepetl volcano, and another halting the contamination of the Cuautla River, that will occur with the Morelos Integral Project.

Due to the above and in the face of growing tension and violations of the rule of law, we hold the bad federal government and the bad government of the State of Morelos responsible for any repression or attack against the compañeros who fight and resist this megaproject of death.

We particularly call for solidarity with the Peoples’ Front in Defense of the Land and Water of Morelos, Puebla, and Tlaxcala.

Sincerely
